🚨 Weekly Market Brief 2.9.26
Buckle up, Lent is coming.
ITS SUPERBOWL WEEKEND!
Also the start of the 6 Nations for my rugby folks.
Pretty much what you’d expect with chicken. Wing demand bled over into breasts and thighs, as a result the entire line is up. Shell eggs are still in freefall.
Middle cuts (your fancy stuff, tenderloin, ribeye, strip) are all creeping up because of Valentines.
Produce is where things are trickier this week. Cucumbers, Squash and tomatoes rely heavily on quick and easy border crossings to stay cheap. Right now they’re doing great whereas the lettuce is still choppy. Basically, if it’s up this week it’s weather related. Climate issues causing production issues for brussels, romaine and iceberg.
Seafood is already on the rise and with Lent on the horizon (2/18-4/2), don’t expect relief anytime soon.
